Marion School District hosted its First Annual Patriot Academy, July 28-29, 2020, at the Marion Performing Arts Center. This academy was created for all new certified employees to the Marion School District, regardless of years of experience. The attendees’ participation in the academy was in addition to the New Teacher Orientation that is annually scheduled.

The focus of the Patriot Academy centered on understanding and preparing for our students. Participants watched videos addressing building relationships and rapport with students. In addition, they toured the areas of the district via bus. This tour provided a mirror experience of our students who are transported by bus to and from school. Additional session topics addressed demographic information of MSD students, social and emotional learning, 504/IDEA, and classroom management.

We are excited to welcome the 41 certified new hires to MSD and are here to provide them with a tremendous level of support for a great first year at MSD!
