Interact Club Visits Civil Rights Museum

Marion High School’s Interact Club and HCGC students visited the Civil Rights Museum last week. Students were moved to virtual silence at times while walking the vast halls of this museum as they learned of the personal experiences, struggles and sacrifices that were endured throughout history.

The Civil Right Museum in Memphis, TN offers 260 artifacts, more than 40 new films, oral histories, interactive media and external listening posts that guide visitors through five centuries of history — from the beginning of the resistance during slavery, through the Civil War and Reconstruction, the rise of Jim Crow, and the seminal events of the late 20th century that inspired people around the world to stand up for equality.

MAYBE THE NEXT GENERATION WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE TIME OUT TO REST, BUT WE HAVE TOO FAR TO GO AND TOO MUCH WORK TO DO.
