Pear Harbor Remembrance Day is celebrated annually in the U.S. in honor of the 2,000+ Americans who were killed in a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7, 1941. This led to the U.S. entering WWII.

Reminder: The Marion Community Christmas Parade is scheduled for tonight. Let's get out and get in the Christmas spirit!

Semester Exam time is approaching. Be mindful of the exam schedule as well as other daily routines that may change so that you can plan accordingly.

The MSD counselors went to the YMCA Memphis and participated in the Coats for Kids event. Each MSD campus got winter coats and hats for our students in need. We enjoyed our time there picking out what we thought our students would like. Each campus got 10 coats each.

Happy Thanksgiving from MHS!

Congratulations to MHS alum Miller Owen who has been named Ole Miss First Scholar at the University of Mississippi. Miller is a 2024 graduate of MHS who is currently majoring in Music. First Scholar is a scholarship awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service. Way to #ReptheM, Miller!

The MHS National Honor Society is revamping its School Clothing Closet! This is a free resource for students in need. We are trying to get rid of negative stigmas and make students more comfortable with this resource. It will function more like a free thrift shop, and we could use any donations. Priorities are unused toiletries like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, hair brushes, hair ties, etc. With the winter months approaching, lightly used coats are also appreciated. The drive will be indefinite as we will always need items.

We all scream for ice cream, but can you do it in Spanish? Well, MHS students can! Today, Ms. Jamison's Spanish I class went to the ice cream shop to put their knowledge to the test by ordering their desserts in Spanish.

It's progress report time! Parents and students, make sure you stay abreast of grade statuses. You plus us=Students' Success!

MHS FBLA will be selling candy grams for the holiday season from November 6th to November 20th. Candy Grams are .25 cents each. On the candy form, please put the 3rd period teacher of the recipient. Put completed grams in the box outside Mrs. Rakestraw's room (AA161) in the Humanities building. See any FBLA member for a Candy Gram form.

Today, MHS students with military aspirations had the opportunity to visit with representatives from the U.S. Airforce.
Can you sing? Can you act? How bout both? Then come on out and show us what you can do at auditions for the MHS spring musical Sweeney Todd!

Happy Veterans Day to our school's vets: Tim Ginn (U.S. Marine Corps), Sonya Lampley (U.S. Army), Jordan McBride (U.S. Army and Arkansas National Guard), James Hudson (U.S. Airforce); Not pictured: Di Granger (Army National Guard) and Joseph White (U.S. Air Force, Air Reserves, Navy Reserves, and currently Air National Guard).
MHS would like to acknowledge all of the military veterans. Thank you for your service. Happy Veterans Day.
