Important update from the Marion School District: There have been significant changes in guidance to schools today regarding COVID-19. As of now, schools in 4 central Arkansas counties have been directed to close due to new presumptive positive cases and direct contact by others with those who have tested positive. The decision to close was made out of an abundance of caution. School closure decisions will be made in consultation with the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). The two agencies will work jointly to provide guidance to districts based on developments in local communities. The ADH and ADE have established a dedicated hotline for districts to call to discuss whether preemptive closures are advised. We will continue to update you as new information is available. ❤️🥰March is Women’s History Month! Earnestine Perry is one of Marion High School student library assistant & she declared her mother as her WONDERFUL WOMAN OF THE MONTH. ❤️🥰 Every year March is designated Women’s History Month by Presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in American history. The National Women’s History Alliance selects and publishes the yearly theme. The 2020 Women’s History Month theme is “Valiant Women of the Vote.” The theme honors "the brave women who fought to win suffrage rights for women, and for the women who continue to fight for the voting rights of others." Earlier this week, Ms. Rich's French students (at MHS and MJHS) were learning about the celebration of Carnaval/Mardi Gras in the French-speaking world. After learning about how people in the French-speaking world celebrate Carnaval/Mardi Gras, the French students got in the festive spirit by decorating and wearing their own colorful masks. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
