Banned Books Week (September 22-28, 2019) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. It brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.
The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted for removal or restriction in libraries and schools. By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship.

A MESSAGE FROM ASU Mid-South:
We need your help. Only 16 days left.
As you may know, October 5 is our 2nd Left Bank Festival, our event to raise money for Greyhound men’s and women’s athletic scholarships. Last year was our inaugural event and we learned so much about how to make this year even more fantastic. We have one amazing event planned.
So what do we need from you, you ask? Well, I’m so glad you asked!
We need you to tell everyone you know. We need you to talk it up. We need you to go to our Left Bank Facebook page and share our posts on your own Facebook pages. Share on your Instagram pages. Email your friends and help us spread awareness. We need you to encourage your friends and families to come out and run(or walk) one of the races. We need you to come out and enjoy the amazing music that is lined up to play. We need you to come out and cheer on the cooking teams in the catfish cooking competition. In short, we need you!

Dear Friends,
After watching the latest PATCAST, I came away humbled. I don’t take for granted the people who trusted Fred Leonard and I enough to buy-in what all the Hometown Showdown entails. At the center of this trust is the belief that we are put on God’s green Earth to make a difference. What have we done for the least of these? I ask this question, knowing that I’m cloaked in human frailty. I’m not perfect. We all aren’t.
However, there comes these rare moments when you know that what you are doing is right. The fact that we all are working together to make a difference in the lives of those who are going through battles that we cannot imagine. We can certainly answer the question above.
Here’s to you Patriot Nation. Watch this video and be blessed.

4. I need all of Patriot Nation to invade the tailgate area. I know it’s on the WM side, but so what!!!! We have Andre Coleman with ServiceMaster Facilities Maintenance, Linda Wilson Of Dominion World Outreach Ministries, Tyler Ginn Of Premier Bank and others hosting tailgate tents. Don’t be a stranger.
A lot of cool things going on! We appreciate your support.
