The 2026 Batesville Pioneer Relays were good for the Marion track teams last week.
MHS took Independence County by storm, with the Patriot boys team earning first place overall, while the Patriot ladies ranked third on the afternoon.
The Pioneer Relays also saw Marion capture five first-place finishes, 11 second-place finishes, and four bronze-medal outcomes.
Marion senior Chris Hardin earned the gold medal in the 400 meters, while Jose Ramirez finished first in the 3200 meters, and the boys 4X4 and 4X8 teams took first place. Aniyah Broyles took gold in the 800 meters.
The Marion girls 4X1, 4X2, and 4X8 outfits each earned silver medals in Batesville, while LaNiya Crayton and Summer Morgan tied for second for the high jump. Kayden Harris was second in the 800 meters, and the boys 4X1 and 4X2 teams earned the silver. Kole Clay ranked second in the triple jump, and Gavin Latham finished second in the shot.
Xialin Gholson earned the bronze medal for the 100 meters, while Addison Weimer took third in the 3200 meters, Rico Ward was third in the 200 meters, and Aden Wilson took third in the high jump.
