The Marion School District Campus Safety Dept would like you to know that your child’s safety is our primary concern. Whether attending classes, staying around for athletic practice, or attending a sporting event, we want to assure you that we have your best interests at heart, and are taking every precautionary measure to ensure you and your child’s safety while visiting our campus.
While safety on our campus is our primary concern, it is also everyone’s responsibility. There are steps that we all can take when it comes to the safety of children and our community.
Be vigilant in our day to day activities. Although we live in a small close knit community we should remain vigilant not only within our schools, but within our communities. If your child has begun to hang out with friends you have never met, have a dialogue with your child and make yourself acquainted with their new friends.
Monitor your child’s mobile devices. We live in a very tech savvy world where there are numerous ways of communicating, and for our children to communicate. We must assure that our children are communicating with who they say they are, and not some predator that they shouldn’t be.
If you SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING. Whether you are in your neighborhood or our campus, it is everyone’s responsibility to report suspicious activity. Do not be concerned of how small or relevant your concern may be. Reporting concerns of rumors or suspicious or criminal activity is not being a “snitch” it is assuming your responsibility to your school district and your community in preventing bad things from happening and keeping everyone safe.
I encourage students and parents to download our School’s new safety app” MSD Protect.” This app can is compatible with Android and Apple products and can be found in the APP store on your device.
