The MHS Spanish Club hosted a field trip to the Memphis Museums of Science and History. Students were able to Immerse in an experience larger than imagination in the Giant Screen Theater and the Planetarium.

First, students were enchanted with the presentation of “Oceans: Our Blue Planet” in the Giant Screen Theater. They embarked on a global journey to discover the largest and least explored habitat on earth that with new ocean science and technology has allowed scientists to go further into the unknown than we ever thought possible.

Then, “Stargazing” at the Planetarium. Students traveled through constellations, learned cool star names, and immersed themselves in planetarium space music in this full dome audiovisual experience.

Students said, “It was an awesome experience.”

This week, students in Mrs. Madison Lowery's AP Psychology classes started their "sock baby" project as part of their unit on Developmental Psychology. This project will extend over the next few weeks with each student responsible for caring for their own sock baby which serves as a hands-on way to explore concepts such as parenting styles, responsibility, and socio-emotional development. Students are expected to take appropriate care of their sock babies while still following all classroom expectations in their other classes. Students will be having a court simulation towards the end of this project as well to ensure each baby has been taken care of responsibly.

Today, MHS faculty kicked off 2026 focused on motivation and data for the second semester. They reflected on their realms of influence with students, on the what they can do to empower students, and how to stay self-motivated as an educator. They also examined the importance of data and the five key data points for MSD. It's going to be a great semester.
